Prepaid credit (card)

$100lowest prepaid amount

Monthly, billed after use (card or purchase order)

$50lowest monthly cap

Your cap is a ceiling, not a charge.

Usage is counted in tokens: the small pieces of text a model reads and writes, each a word or part of a word.

For federal buyers. A monthly cap of $1,250 or less keeps a year’s spending within the federal micro-purchase threshold: $15,000 for most purchases (FAR 2.101, as of October 1, 2026 (another website)). Keep each prepaid purchase under it.

Annual spending above the threshold needs your contracting office’s normal competition rules; a monthly cap doesn’t change that.

Don’t split one purchase into several to stay under a threshold (FAR 13.003), and check your card’s single-purchase limit.

Prepaid credit
Prepaid credit: any amount you choose, from $100, in whole dollars. Prepaid credit is for anyone paying by card: a government purchase card, a company card or a practice card.
Prepaid balance
The balance is held in dollars, not tokens. Usage draws it down at the published rates in effect when the usage happens, and requests stop when it reaches zero. The balance never expires and never renews automatically. You can top up at any time.
Unused balance
Any unused balance is refunded on request at any time, and when you close your account: to the original card where the card network allows, otherwise by EFT, as your agency or company directs.
Monthly billing
You set a monthly spending cap. Line Three bills monthly, in arrears (after use), for the previous month’s usage, and never above your cap.
Monthly cap
The lowest monthly cap is $50. Change it at any time. If you lower the cap below this month’s usage so far, new requests stop at once.
Card
By card: charged each month for the previous month’s usage, never above your cap.
Purchase order
By purchase order: invoiced monthly, in arrears, through Wide Area WorkFlow (WAWF) in PIEE, against the order’s not-to-exceed ceiling. A purchase order’s not-to-exceed ceiling is the total for its period of performance; your monthly cap sits inside it.
Renewal
A card billing authorization lasts 12 months, then stops unless the cardholder confirms renewal. Nothing renews automatically, by card or on a purchase order.
Rates
Every customer pays the same published rates, with 60 days’ notice of any change. On monthly billing, your rates are locked for 12 months from sign-up; after that, the published rates apply. If a model is retired, we give 60 days’ notice and move you to a replacement at the same or a lower price.
Rate limits
Rate limits follow the cap, for card and purchase-order accounts alike: 60 requests a minute per key below a $1,000 monthly cap, and 600 a minute per key at $1,000 or more.
Keys
As many as you need, no per-seat price. Per-key caps are optional limits inside the account’s cap. The $50 minimum is per account, not per key.
Overage
If a request is still running when the cap is reached or a prepaid balance reaches zero, Line Three absorbs that overrun and never bills it.
Taxes
Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes. If your organization is tax-exempt, give your exemption at checkout or on the order.

Light
20 requests a day per developer: review a change, explain a module, draft a note.
Editor assistant
100 requests a day per developer: an assistant in the editor working through most of the day.
Coding agents
Not estimated here. Coding agents: compatibility not yet verified. Tested results are published before early access.
Assumptions
21 working days a month, at the gpt-oss-120b rate. A code review is 8,000 tokens in and 1,500 out, so $0.0117; a one-page letter $0.0042; a staff-work draft $0.0051; a deposition summary $0.033. Using Nemotron Nano for small tasks costs less. Your own use differs: these are estimates, not quotes.
Suggested cap
About 25% headroom over a busy month of 23 working days, rounded up to the next $50 step, and never below $50. For 50 developers with an editor assistant: 115,000 requests × $0.0117 = $1,345.50; × 1.25 = $1,681.88; rounded up, $1,700. A year’s funding is that cap × 12, $20,400.
Suggested prepaid amount
The estimated year rounded up to the next $100, never below $100, with no headroom added. A suggestion only: you choose the amount.

Pricing questions.

  1. What happens when we reach the cap?

Requests stop with a clear error until the next month, or until you raise the cap. A request that starts while the month’s cap has room is allowed to finish, even if it goes over the cap. The next request is refused until the next month, or until you raise the cap.

  2. We’re a practice, firm or state or local office. How do we pay?

Practices, firms and companies buy prepaid credit by card, or pay monthly after use, by card or on a company purchase order, up to a monthly cap they set. State and local offices buy prepaid credit by card, or pay monthly after use: by card, or on a purchase order with a not-to-exceed ceiling, invoiced monthly and payable net-30 (within 30 days of the invoice).

  3. We’re a defense contractor. Can we buy?

Defense contractors and subcontractors may use Line Three: prepaid credit on a company card, or monthly after use, by company card or on a company purchase order payable net-30 (within 30 days of the invoice). Who approves it inside a company.

  4. How does card checkout work?

Once early access opens, card checkout is online: set your monthly cap, accept these terms at checkout, and add the card. A receipt comes by email each month. Level 3 card data is passed on only if the card processor supports it. Prepaid credit is bought the same way: choose the amount, accept these terms at checkout, and pay. The receipt comes by email.

  5. Can we see usage by key?

Yes. Each month your administrators can download a CSV file for each key, or one for all keys, with one row per day and model: the date, the key’s name, the model, tokens in, tokens out and the cost. A team, project or matter can be followed by its own key. When you close your account, you can export your usage records first, and we delete them, with every key name, within 30 days. Invoices and payment records are kept only as tax and billing law requires.

  6. Can we sign our own agreement?

Government and enterprise customers may sign a negotiated agreement; ask through [email protected]. Prices stay the published ones.

  7. What support comes with an account?

Support by the contact form, answered directly, not by a sales team. Contracting officers and cardholders can also email [email protected]. There is no uptime commitment (SLA) at launch.

For resource advisors

Which should I choose?

Prepaid suits units and offices that set aside an amount up front and pay by card. Check with your card approving official or contracting office whether your card rules allow paying in advance for a service.

Monthly billing suits contracting offices that pay only after the service is delivered.

Both have a hard limit, so there is never an open-ended bill.

Fiscal year
Each invoice covers one calendar month of usage and shows its dates. Prepaid credit is charged when it is bought and has no end date, so it can be used in a later fiscal year. A federal purchase order can set its period of performance to end on September 30; a new order then covers the new fiscal year. Which funds apply is your resource advisor’s decision. Line Three makes no claim about which year’s funds a month’s usage or prepaid credit must use.
Funding the year
To fund a year, plan for the monthly cap × 12, or a prepaid amount that covers the year. The team-cost estimates show both for each example team.
Invoices
A receipt for prepaid credit comes by email with each purchase or top-up. Monthly card accounts get a receipt by email each month. Federal purchase orders get one invoice a month in Wide Area WorkFlow (WAWF), which runs in the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE). Each shows the month’s dates and the usage by model.
